Video Art Programme #2
Synopsis
A square becomes the frame for a series of situations in which objects acquire their own dynamics and presence. The concrete and the abstract, the material and the disorderly, exist here on equal terms, turning ordinary objects into independent participants in the image.
About the Director
Zhou Hongxiang is one of the few artists dedicated chiefly to new media art, conceptual film, video art and photography in China's contemporary art scene. His early video works are characterized by use of metaphor, parody and juxtaposition, and fragments and collage of political and historical symbols. He was selected as one of the young artists featured in TIME Magazine (U.S.)'s special issue on China's young people.
