Synopsis
Based on a real Soviet mirror catalogue from the 1980s, the film turns the catalogue's nameless models from passive objects into active creators of their own images. Workers at a mirror factory publish their own "book of reflections," rethinking authorship and visibility within late-Soviet visual culture.
About the Director
Annapurna Kumar is a filmmaker and multimedia artist based in Southern California, teaching at UCLA's Design Media Arts program. Her practice explores image-making technologies, the similarities between human and computer vision, and personal/political truths in digital media. Other works include "Something To Treasure" (2019) and "Sadhana" (2016).
