Synopsis
A fantastical documentary essay about the Merwede River, poisoned over decades by discharges of the "forever chemical" PFAS, which has seeped into the soil, the fruit and the breast milk of several generations. Weaving together family archives, flood legends and the personal story of a director who grew up on the river's banks, the film balances between fact and myth, speaking of poisoning and love at once.
About the Director
Sofie Blom (NL, 1999) is a visual artist and anthropologist exploring the lifeworlds of the human and the more-than-human. She moves between fieldwork, archival research and poetic speculation.
