Rectified Flows

Synopsis

A video essay in which the author uses generative code to intervene in raw astronomical data (FITS files), producing new, sensuous visual images from them. The work rethinks the very nature of the technical image in the age of data, where "seeing" and "processing" become indistinguishable from one another.

About the Director

Sebastián Arriagada is a Chilean filmmaker and photographer (b. 1985, Temuco), exploring how moving images redefine our perception of reality. He is a PhD candidate in Arts at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and teaches at the University of Chile. His work has shown at Ars Electronica (Austria), FIDOCS (Chile) and other international venues.
