Synopsis

A personal archive spanning 25 years becomes the material for an experiment on the border between human memory and machine editing. Digitised Super 8 footage, shot across the former Yugoslavia, Europe and Africa, is reassembled by an algorithm into unpredictable sequences, turning memory into the product of a collaboration between human and machine.

About the Director

Igor Toholj (b. 1968, Belgrade) studied sociology at the University of Belgrade and film editing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. Active in filmmaking since 1984, he has made around twenty experimental and documentary films shown at festivals in Serbia and abroad. He curates the film programme at Belgrade's Students' City Cultural Center and has served as artistic director of the DOK international documentary festival since 2018.
